Math Exploration

Mr. Minore · Tuesday, 3:30–4:30 PM · 2nd–5th

This dynamic program transforms mathematics into an adventure across art, sports, nature, architecture, and logic puzzles. Designed for curious minds, each session kicks off with a lively math game that gets students thinking fast and working together. From there, learners dive into weekly themes that reveal the hidden mathematics in the world around them- creating geometric mandalas, analyzing real baseball stats, hunting for Fibonacci spirals in nature, and designing tiny houses like true architects. Students also crack secret codes, master the game of Sprouts, hunt for vampire numbers, and tackle the classic Four Fours challenge. The curriculum balances guided instruction with independent discovery, encouraging students to ask questions, test ideas, and explain their reasoning. By the end of the program, participants not only build confidence in their mathematical abilities but also develop a deeper appreciation for how math shapes our world. Families are invited to a celebratory showcase where students display their project portfolios and share their favorite discoveries.
