Bricks4Kidz

 

Bricks4Kidz offers challenging programs (blue square to black diamond) with more steps and opportunities to learn through play experience about the laws of motion utilizing LEGO technic axles, gears, motors, and battery power. Each week we explore new STEAM concepts related to our build and learn and play along the way. Winter theme will be SNOW machines!

Chess

 

Chess (K-5th grade): Embark on an exciting chess journey with esteemed instructor and FIDE Master Slava Mikhailuk from Ellen Art School. This enrichment program offers a comprehensive approach to chess education. Each session begins with explanations of key chess concepts, followed by hands-on puzzle solving in workbooks to reinforce learning. Students will enjoy ample time for friendly gameplay, honing their skills in a supportive environment. With a focus on all aspects of the game, including openings, middlegame strategies, and endgame techniques, our class empowers students to elevate their chess prowess so that even beginner chess players can be ready for tournament play!

Choir

 

Choir (PreK- 1st grade): We are excited to invite Half Note Music School back to guide the Cascadia students through another enriching choral experience. This choir class offers a holistic approach to vocal development and musical expression. Throughout the course, students will embark on a harmonious journey as they explore the intricacies of their voices, discovering their range and harmony potential. Through a variety of engaging warm-up exercises, participants will learn the importance of vocal health and technique, creating a solid foundation for choral singing. In addition, students will learn essential rhythmic concepts and the art of singing as a cohesive ensemble, fostering teamwork and unity among students. From selecting repertoire to delving into musicality and theory, this class equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to become confident performers. Students will perform for parents on the last day of class.

Believe It Or Not (PreK-5th grade): This mind-blowing island is filled with unbelievably exciting engineering challenges inspired by zany, wacky, wild, 100% true facts. Ring of Fire Restaurant, Emperor Penguin Pop, Eclipse Extravaganza and Spectacular Skateboard Park are just a few of jaw-dropping destinations kids will visit on Believe It or Not Island!

Math

 

The Brain Gymnastics (2nd-5th grade): This program is a mental workout designed to prepare young minds for the twenty-first century life-style. The class stretches the students’ reasoning beyond day-to-day thinking by challenging them with exciting and puzzling problems. Students get an opportunity to develop their investigative, creative, and critical thinking skills by exploring mathematical topics and brainteasers in an inspiring and competitive team setting. Brain Gymnastics targets the student’s problem solving skills and emphasizes understanding concepts rather than memorizing rules. After experiencing the Brain Gymnastics program, mathematics will become something to enjoy discovering and playing with.

Drama

 

Story Drama (PreK-1st grade): Bring your favorite stories to life in this interactive drama class that teaches young actors how to use their voice, body language, and imagination to bring stories to life. We’ll choose several stories as a class to explore character, dialogue, and action. Then we’ll pick our favorite story to turn into a play for our friends and family for the final class!

Speech Club (2nd -5th grade): In this speech club students will practice and hone their presentation techniques including working on memorization, projection, and catching your audience. Then we will work on individual performances which may include picture book memorization, writing an informative speech, and memorizing monologues.

Sports

 

Sports Play (PreK-5th grade): This program is a unique and exciting program designed to promote sports and fitness to children. Kids will be introduced to a new sport (ex: basketball, kickball, lacrosse, golf, tennis, badminton, bowling, disc golf, T-ball etc.) each week with a focus on learning the basics of a wide variety of sports, developing gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and enhancing physical fitness, balance, agility, and teamwork. Every kid will get their own sports equipment and every kid will participate, every time.

Adventures in STEAM (K-1st grade): Students will be introduced to games related to practicing the computer as well as hands-on activities that do not require the computer. We will have classes focused on a specific STEAM topic like space or robots.

Advanced Scratch & Introduction to Engineering (2nd-5th grade): In this session, students will be introduced to some more advanced blocks found in Scratch. In the later half, we will introduce students to different engineering fields like civil engineering and chemical engineering. They will then use what they have learned from previous classes to build a project related to that engineering topic.

Debate

 

Debate Club (3rd-5th grade): Debate club with Ms. Reisman will explore how to engage in meaningful debate. Over the course of the program, students will learn how to create and engage in debates. The course covers all parts of debate skills, including effective body language, tone, CER structure (claim/evidence/reasoning), persuasive reasoning, and refuting. This club will include research and live debates. There will be some homework involved. All participants will be required to stay on top of assignments and come to each club session prepared. An informal debate tournament will be held internally within Cascadia as a final culmination project at the end of the club.

Karate

 

Karate-X (PreK-3rd grade): Students will learn and practice Karate skills with punching bags, breaking boards, blocking drills, kicking targets, and more! Our professional instructors know how to motivate kids while building self-confidence and discipline. Belt rank testing is held at the end of each session, giving students goals to aim for and recognition of their accomplishments. Thousands of kids have enjoyed Karate-X classes, and yours will love it too! Price includes belt test and uniform.

Dance

 

Bollywood Dance (K-5th grade): The sessions include an introduction to Bollywood dancing where these young dancers learn Bollywood choreography ranging from Traditional, Folk, Contemporary, and Bhangra. Students will learn the basics of dance, good dance technique to build a strong foundation for dance, coordination of body, and understanding choreography. They will get to showcase their dance at the end of the session, building their confidence and self esteem!

Private Lessons

 

Private Music Lessons (PreK-5th grade): We are proud to offer private music lessons on campus for piano (keyboard), violin, and ukulele. These will be held after school in 30 minute lessons. Lessons will go for 15 weeks (January 13th - May 16th). Registration will open on Bloomz on November 15th at 6:00pm.

  • Cost:  $900 *instrument rental and materials not included.
